Dragan Stanojević, President of the Assembly of the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region; Russia, the Ukraine and Belarus

Born in Pribojska Banja (Zlatibor District).

Obtained his BA from the University of Economics in Kiev. His speciality is ‘Business Management’.

In 1997 he formed the joint Yugoslav-Ukrainian company, ‘YUG¬UKR – Kontrakt’. He is currently the owner and President of the company.

Has been an activist for many years, since at least 1999 when he founded and became president of the first Serbian organisation on the Eurasian territory, ‘Sveti Sava’. He is the organiser of many conferences, round tables, rallies and performances within parliamentary and governmental institutions.

Participates in and organises a large number of media campaigns with a view to protecting Serbian interests, and is a promoter of the Serbian economy on this territory.

Known as a lobbyist in Serbian-Russian and Serbian-Ukrainian relations. He is influential and respected in the political and social life of these countries. Through his active role in politics he prevented the Ukraine from recognizing the secession of Kosovo. He has enjoyed a long and fruitful period of cooperation with Russian politicians. He organises visits for high-level political and state delegations.

He is the founder, chief thinker and sponsor behind the umbrella organisation ‘United Serbian Eurasian Diaspora’, which is registered and has international status. He has received many awards and acknowledgments.

He has homes in Kiev and Moscow.

Ordained as deacon in 2007, in the temple of St. Sava in Hindmarsh, Adelaide, and before that as priest on the grounds of the St. Sava monastery near Canberra in 2004.

In 2008, he was appointed Head of the Church of St. Sava in Perth in line with the decision of the Bishop Irenaeus of Australia and New Zealand.

He lives and works in Perth.

A businessman, he is the owner and publisher of the Frankfurt Serbian-language daily newspaper ‘Vesti’. He is active in the life of the Serbian community in Germany.

After he graduated from the Electro-Technical High School in Tuzla, he received a degree after studying for two years at the College of Economics in Belgrade.

Once a member of the Diaspora Council of the Federal Government (Serbia and Montenegro), as well as President of the Economic Cooperation Board.

Has made significant investments within Serbia, and intends to expand them even further.

He lives and works in Frankfurt.

For 10 years, he has been an active member of the church board and a trustee for the regions of Oppland and Hedmark, and for the past 5 years he has been the Secretary for the parish of St. Basil of Ostrog.

In cooperation with the Red Cross of Serbia, he organises the traditional campaign to bring children from Kosovo and Metohija to Norway so that they might recover.

Manages the Serbian school in Lillehammer, for which he was awarded the Golden Pin in 2008 by the Cultural-Educational Association of Serbia.

This he successfully rejuvenated both spiritually and materially.

Founded the now quintessential parish magazine ‘Svetosavsko Ognjište’.

Founded the ‘Sveti Sava’ Serbian language supplementary school, which is to be found on the premises of the temple of ‘St. Thomas the Apostle’.

He has been a longtime activist behind associations for the Serbian diaspora. He has also organised Serbian language schools in France.

Awarded the ‘Recognition of the City of Paris’ by the French President Jacques Chirac, for coordinating between Yugoslav and French citizens.

He was awarded the Order of the President of Serbia and Montenegro, and in 2005 he received the Republic of Serbia’s ‘Medal of Benevolence’.

He has been President of the Assembly of the Diaspora of Serbs in France for many years.

In 1988 he was ordained as a deacon, and after that as a presbyter.

Entered service in the parish at Linz in 1988.

Awarded the right to wear the red belt in 1992, then the dignified role of archpriest’s deputy in 1997, after which he was ordained as an archpriest in 2004, and in 2005 he was awarded the Archpriest’s Gramata.

Since 1993, he has taught religious classes in regular Austrian schools.

rkGraduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Journalism and Information, at the University of Belgrade in 1996. Specialised at the International Academy of Journalism – ‘Olof Palme & European House’ International Centre – Budapest/Stockolm in 2001. PhD candidate at the Western University of Timisoara since 2010.

In the period from 1992 to 2005 he collaborated with many renowned Romanian print and electronic media outlets, such as: Radio Timisoara, Radio Europa FM, Prima TV, the weeklies ‘Privirea’, ‘Fapte’, ‘Dilema Veche’ and others.

In the period from 1993 to 2000 he published over 500 newspaper, radio and television reports, and made a number of TV reports from the front lines in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo and Metohia.

During his career he has edited more than 300 daily TV shows, and more than 500 weekly TV shows of various genres and formats. A member of the Governing Council of Romanian National Television (a public service) since 2007.

He is married and has two daughters.

Obtained his BA in Psychology from Victoria University.

Obtained his Master’s degree from Victoria University on the topic of ‘Trauma and Treatment of Adolescent Refugees.’

Studied the Chinese language, successfully graduating in 2008.

He lives and works in Melbourne.
