The Austrian-Serbian Society (ASS) has become a full member of the Association of Bilateral Friendship Societies – ‘Partner to All Nations’ or PaN, a decision taken at the 56th meeting of the Board of PaN.
The statement from the ASS outlines that during a recent meeting held between its management and the leaders of PaN, the need for more active mutual cooperation was discussed. Both parties concluded that the role of the Austrian-Serbian Society could be many times more significant in forming a stronger connection between the two countries where economic matters and culture are concerned, as well as other areas.
There are around 100 bilateral societies in Austria, gathered under this one mutual umbrella organisation. The patron of the PaN umbrella organisation is the President of Austria, Dr.Heinz Fischer, and an Honorary Board of Directors consists of nine provincial governors of the Alpine Republic.
PaN, in accordance with its mission, actively supports international relations on behalf of the Republic of Austria. This organisation believes that cross border relations are not limited to the avenues explored by classical diplomacy. One of a number of indicators that support this point of view is the number of issues increasingly being resolved at the level of civil society.
